MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Horry County Police took a student into custody Tuesday for bringing a gun to Carolina Forest High School.
According to a post from the police department’s Twitter account, the student brought the gun on campus, but no one was hurt. Online police records show officers were called to the school, located at 700 Gardner Lacy Road, around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
According to Krystal Dotson with Horry County police, 17-year-old Casey Rose Hatcher was charged with carrying or displaying firearms in public buildings or adjacent areas. Hatcher was booked in the J Reuben Long Detention Center at 11:25 p.m.
Officers seized the gun, but have not commented on the type of gun or if the gun was loaded.
