MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Thousands of homes across the Eastern Carolinas are without power Wednesday morning after strong thunderstorms rolled through.

Santee Cooper reported that 976 homes were without power in the North Myrtle Beach area with estimated restoration time of 7:30am.

Duke Power reported that 1,334 homes were without power in Pembroke and they estimate it will be restored by 7:45am.

Stormtracker 13 Meteorologist James Hopkins says rain and thunderstorms will continue today with heavy rain possible. A weak cold front will slowly push into the area today, then slowly move away Thursday.

This front will continue to bring showers and slow moving thunderstorms. Some spots will see heavy rain and minor flooding.

It will be mostly cloudy today with high temperatures around 80.
