FLORENCE, SC –  A Storm READY Expo hosted by the South Carolina Department of Insurance will be held on Saturday, October 1, at the Florence Home Depot.

“Hurricane Season continues through November 30th and this year alone, a number of tropical events have moved through the state causing minor damages and creating losses.   Everyone should take time now and review their insurance policies, revisit or create a home inventory and update their family emergency plans so they are prepared,” advises Ray Farmer, Director of the South Carolina Department of Insurance.

During the Storm READY Expo residents will be able to meet with vendors, insurance agents, producers, community organizations, state and local emergency preparedness organizations, as well as product manufacturers.  This free event is an opportunity for homeowners to learn different ways they can strengthen and protect their homes against storms and severe weather.

The Storm READY Expo will take place Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Home Depot located at 3051 W. Radio Drive, Florence, SC 29501.  There will be product demonstrations, activities for the children, refreshments and giveaways available for attendees.

The event is free and open to the public.  For more information please contact Ann Roberson with the South Carolina Department of Insurance by calling 803-737-6207 or via e-mail, aroberson@doi.sc.gov.
