LAURINBURG, NC (WBTW) – A woman killed in a pedestrian crash in Scotland County Tuesday morning has been identified by troopers as Paula Scott, of Laurinburg. She was 52.
Trooper Ross Maynor says the incident happened around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday along Highway 501, about a mile south of Laurinburg.
Trooper Maynor says Scott was walking north in a northbound lane of 501 when she was struck from behind by a truck that was also traveling north.
Scott died on the scene.
Troopers say the driver of the vehicle stopped when the crash happened.
Trooper Maynor says Scott was wearing dark clothing and walking in an area that was not lit.
The driver in the crash has not been charged at this time.
