FRIPP LANDING, SC (WBTW) – A South Carolina activity and nature center says some guests reached “a new level of stupid” by throwing carrots at one of the center’s alligators.

The Fripp Island Activity Center is located on the grounds of the Fripp Island Golf and Beach Resort in Beaufort County. The Lowcountry attraction says visitors to the center threw carrots onto a big alligator and the “behavior will not be tolerated.”

A Facebook post from the center says Fripp’s wildlife is amazing, but visitors must show appreciation and respect for the animals. Security personnel at the activity center have a description of the people who threw the carrots and if found, those responsible could face a fee for harassing the alligator.

“That’s $200 per carrot in this case,” the post states.

The post encourages visitors to treat the animals well and “don’t be stupid.”
