LUMBERTON, NC (WBTW) – Lumberton resident Brian Lindsay recorded a birds-eye view of flooding in west Lumberton on Tuesday. Lindsay used a drone and posted the video to his Facebook page. He gave News13 permission to share the video.
The drone video clearly shows the area under Interstate 95 where Lumber River flood waters are spilling into west Lumberton behind West Lumberton Baptist Church. The water is coming from a flooded area where the Lumber River spilled over its banks on the west side of the interstate. Crews built a temporary dirt mound barrier in the area where railroad tracks pass under the interstate from the west to east side. Sandbags were also added to the temporary barrier, but the floodwaters west of the interstate washed away the barrier, allowing water to flow into west Lumberton.
The video also shows flooding along W. 5th Street and the surrounding area.
