Upstate SC father charged after child left in car dies

SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA) – Police have arrested the father of a 1-year-old boy who died Friday in Spartanburg.

The coroner’s office said the child, King Trammel, died from heat-related issues.

Spartanburg police say the child was left unattended inside a car with the windows closed and the engine turned off for at least an hour.

Once the father discovered the child was not inside the home, he searched and found him unresponsive inside the vehicle, police say.

Aaron Tazhon Trammel, 22, is charged with involuntary manslaughter and child neglect.

Trammel was arrested Saturday evening.

A judge set Trammel’s bond at $20,000.

Trammel was released on bond Sunday, according to jail records.

As part of his release conditions, Trammel must follow guidelines set by the S.C. Department of Social Services for the remaining child in the household.

The S.C. Law Enforcement Division assisted in the investigation.

Trammel is set to appear in court again on August 30, 2018 at 9 a.m.
