FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – An 87-year-old missing man, the subject of a Silver Alert, was indentified by a nurse at a local hospital.
William Henry Battle was found this morning at about 4 a.m. in the trauma unit at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, according to his family.
Battle was invovled in a severe accident, the family member said. Fortunately, a nurse who came on duty in the morning recognized him from the news report.
The N.C. Center for Missing Persons canceled the silver alert at the request of the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday morning.

A Silver Alert has been issued for an 87-year-old man who was last seen in Red Springs.
According to the NC DPS, William Henry Battle was last seen on South Duffie Road in Red Springs. Officials believe he may be on his way back to the Red Springs area.
Battle is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.
Battle is 6’1″ and weighs about 200 pounds. He has blue eyes.
He was reportedly last seen wearing a black ball cap that says ‘Korean Veteran’, along with a multi-colored checkered shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.
Battle may be driving a green 2005 Dodge Caravan with NC tag HD7-1948.
