You’ve probably heard the saying “find a penny, pick it up. All day long, you’ll have good luck.”

It’s a message one kid in Tennessee takes seriously.

“Every year we try to do something to give back and this year it was his turn to kind of make a choice, and he said he wanted to do something for police,” the boy’s mother told an area CBS station.

A Franklin County 7-year-old, Kameryn Chebetar, is handing out “lucky pennies” to police officers, giving those who protect his community a little extra good luck.

Officers with the Winchester Police Department received the pennies.

“There is so much bad and negativity. To shed a little positivity on us, makes us feel really good,” said one officer.

Kameryn and his mom have now made hundreds of pennies for police.

“Columbus County North Carolina Sheriff’s Department, Golden Eagle Police Department in Illinois reached out,” she said.

To thank the boy, officers gave him a coin and a badge.

Kameryn wants to be a police officer when he grows up.

“Pennies for Police” has a Facebook page, which can be found here.
