LILLINGTON, N.C. (WNCN) – A teen accused of killing a Harnett County man in his home on June 21 made her first court appearance Thursday.
Alma Isabel Correa Portillo, 17, is charged in connection with the death of 28-year-old Kyle Jarrett, the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office said.
Portillo faces charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping, attempted robbery with dangerous weapon, and conspiracy.
She first appeared before a judge around 10:30 a.m.
Jarrett’s family was in court Thursday for Portillo’s appearance.
Jarrett’s mom did not want to go on camera but told CBS 17 reporter Lauren Haviland she “has faith that just will be served.”
Portilla is being held without bond. She will be back in court July 24.
If convicted, the 17-year-old could be sentenced to death.
Jarrett was shot and killed in his Lillington home on June 21.
Authorities have not yet released a motive in the killing.
Warrants have also been obtained for 18-year-old Jarell Donte Ballentine. He is sought for first-degree murder, kidnapping, attempted robbery with dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery.
