Two people have been arrested and a third is being sought after a police chase starting in Tabor City, Thursday morning. 

According to a press release from the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, Quentin Vereen and Marquita Vereen have been arrested in connection to the chase. 

Deputies approached a car behind Fowler’s Gill in Tabor City. Deputies noted a strong smell of marijuana coming from the car, a Ford Fusion. 

The car sped away running a stop sign and a chase ensued. The chase eventually went into South Carolina before crossing the border again back into North Carolina. 

While on the McCrimmon Extension the suspects lost control and the car rolled onto its side. Marquita was trapped inside the car, Quentin and another suspect got out and fled into the woods. Search teams, helicopters, and K-9s were able to locate Quentin. 

When deputies searched the car they found cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and marijuana.

Marquita faces one felony and two misdemeanor drug charges. She was issued a $3500 bond.

Quentin is facing one misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest. He was issued a $1,000 bond.
