Federal prosecutors issued subpoenas to start a federal investigation into allegations of election fraud in North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District.
That news comes on the same day the filing period opened for an election do-over.
The political parties will hold their primary elections on May 14, and the general election will happen on Sept. 10.
The election redo comes after claims of mail-in ballot tampering by a person who had been hired by Republican Mark Harris.
Harris will not run again.
Democrat Dan McReady, who ran last year, says he will run again.
In our region, the 9th District includes Robeson, Scotland and Richmond counties.
