The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Scotland County.

NCSBI spokesperson Patty McQuillan says the shooting happened Saturday around 2 a.m. on the corner of Lee’s Mill Road and Produce Market Road. The officer involved is with the Laurinburg Police Department, but McQuillan didn’t provide any information related to the type of call to which the officer was responding, nor did she say what caused the officer to fire their gun.

The person shot is in critical condition, McQuillan confirms.

McQuillan didn’t release the name of the person shot, the person’s criminal history, or if the person was armed in any way at the time of the shooting.
