The South Carolina Emergency Management Division is hard at work helping residents in flooded areas and preparing those areas expected to flood.
According to a press release from the SCEMD:
- the Lynches river continues to rise and is expected to crest some time Saturday or Sunday.
- The Little Pee Dee River at Galivants Ferry has crested and is on its way down.
- The Waccamaw River near Conway has already surpassed its past record and may crest Monday or Tuesday.
- In Florence County a mandatory evacuation order has been issued for approximately 4,900 residents.
- SCDOT has reported between 150 and 200 road closures, including 32 primary roads and 56 bridges.
- SCEMD has received more than 1,200 requests for resources from local emergency managers.
