GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC (WSPA/WBTW) — An upstate South Carolina school superintendent has been charged with DUI.
Court records show Dr. Quincie Moore, superintendent of Cherokee County School District, was arrested Sunday in Greenville County.
A trooper arrested Moore on a charge of driving under the influence, less than .10, first offense.
Lance Cpl. Joe Hovis with the S.C. Highway Patrol said Moore was driving northbound on I-85 when she rear ended another vehicle around 1:15 a.m. Sunday around mile marker 50.
No one was hurt.
He said Moore was charged with DUI and taken to Greenville County Detention Center, where she refused a breath test.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Joe Hovis, in South Carolina refusing to take a breathalyzer in a DUI case is an automatic six months suspension of their driver’s license.
Moore is no longer in jail.
She was released under a $992 personal recognizance bond.
Moore’s next scheduled court date is set for Jan. 30, 2019, according to the North Greenville Summary Court.
WBTW’s sister station, WSPA 7News, reached out to Cherokee County School Board for comment.
Chairman Johnny Sarratt Jr. said in a written statement that school board trustees will meet Tuesday evening to discuss Moore’s arrest.
“Until such time as the Board is able to review this matter, it would be premature for me to make any
further comment on Dr. Moore’s status,” he added.
