South Carolina lawmakers returned to the state house on Tuesday.
The first day of a new legislative session is like the first day of school for lawmakers
Representatives went through formal introductions and read more than 500 bills across the floor to assign to committees.
The group also reiterated its priorities this year, where education tops the list.
“The speaker set the tone in our organizational session about education reform. So, I think there is going to be a lot of time devoted to that to ensure that we get that right and then of course, the continuing issue of what do we do with our pension reform,” said Representative Gary Clary (R- Pickens).
Dozens of bills have been filed so far relating to education in both the house and the senate.
