SC for Ed, an advocacy group for South Carolina public education and educators, will descend on the State House today for Money Matters Lobby Day.

SC for Ed representatives plan to meet with legislators to discuss a 10 percent pay increase for teachers, class sizes and standardized testing.

State lawmakers proposed a bill last week outlining a $3,000 increase in pay for first-year teachers and up to a nine percent pay increase over the following few years.

Horry and Georgetown county’s SC for Ed representative Kendra Pennington said, “Ten percent extra isn’t going to fix all our problems but it is going to be make it a little easier because I’m not going to be worried about the hours and hours I put into this job if I don’t have to worry about working my second job to make ends meet.”
