The Robeson County Water System is experiencing outages and periods of low pressure due to Hurricane Florence.
Myron Neville, with the water system, says in a press release water consumers of the system are seeing periods of low water pressure and water outages because of the storm.
Periods of low or no water pressure in the water system increase the chance for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the system, Neville also says.
When water service is restored, consumers are advised to boil all water used for human consumption, including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparations, or to use bottled water.
“Vigorous boiling for one minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water,” the press release states. “Water customers are strongly urged to conserve water whenever possible. This advisory remains in effect until further written notification is issued.”
