MAXTON, NC (WBTW) – Robeson County deputies announced two arrests, including a 16-year-old suspect arrested Friday, for the murder of a man whose body was found in the woods in Maxton.

Deputies found Braxton Chavis’ body off Alma Road in December after his son told 911 dispatchers he believed his father had been kidnapped.

Tony Locklear, Sr., 43, was arrested on March 2 in Alabama. He “was wanted for the death of Chavis and an unrelated murder in Maine,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release. He was recently extradited to Maine to stand trial.

Tony Locklear, Jr., 16, was arrested Friday. He was charged with first degree murder, first degree kidnapping, and felony conspiracy. He’s being held at the Robeson County Detention Center without bond
