LUMBERTON, NC (WBTW) – A Robeson County 911 operator was honored Tuesday for helping a woman deliver a baby boy after a dispatch call.
Katrina Oxendine provided “life saving measures” to the mother during a call at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, according to a Robeson County Government Facebook post.
Within five minutes, the baby was delivered, the county posted. When EMS first responders arrived, they were greeted by a healthy baby boy being held by his mother.
Oxendine has been a Robeson County telecommunicator for eight years.
Robeson County 911 awarded Oxendine with the first ever Robeson County Life Saving Award, which began this month.
