PGBA has announced a “reduction in force” for Florence and Surfside Beach employees.
PGBA “provides claims, processing, customer service, system platforms, and fiscal services for multiple government partners and contracts,” according to Patti Embry-Tautenhan, Assistant Vice President of Corporate Relations for BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina.
“On August 31, its leadership communicated to employees that due to the loss of the Veterans Administration Choice contract there would be a reduction in force affecting employees in specific positions (Veterans Administration Choice, TRICARE and other lines of business) at the Florence and Surfside Beach operations. Affected associates are being notified,” Embry-Tautenhan says.
Transition activities are expected to being in late October and will be staggered through the end of the year, Embry-Tautenhan also says. “Final numbers are not yet available as some staff is relocating to other positions and some positions are being vacated by attrition and retirement.”
““This action is difficult, but we remain committed to keeping everyone informed on all key developments,” says Mick Skarupa, President and Chief Operating Officer of PGBA. “While disappointing, scaling workforce to workload is a well-known challenge in providing contractual services for the federal government.”
