EMS crews jumped into action on Saturday when a performer at the 2019 Rumba on the Lumber community festival has a cardiac arrest.
According to a Facebook post from Lumberton Rescue and EMS, they along with members of the Lumberton Fire Department, and Police Department “jumped into action,” when the performer suffered a cardiac arrest.
A cardiac surgeon and ICU nurse were on the scene and started CPR.
Authorities credit the use of a defibrillator and CPR in saving the man’s life. When he regained consciousness he was talking with first responders as they placed him into an ambulance.
Robeson County Sheriff Brunis Wilkins had this to say about the incident on Facebook: “Your First Responders jumped into action today to save a person that had a severe medical emergency in front of a huge crowd.” Said the sheriff. “I hope those of you that watched, observed what your dedicated first responders are trained to do and that’s to save lives. Good job by all and please say a special prayer for the person helped by your first responders.”
The Rumba on the Lumber Festival continues through Sunday.
