Official SC Christmas tree arrives in Columbia ahead of Carolighting

The holiday season finally started in South Carolina Tuesday, as the state’s official Christmas tree arrived in Columbia.

The 2018 tree is a 35-foot-tall Conocolor Fir from the Pinetum Christmas Tree Farm in Swanton, MD. It will stand in front of the South Carolina State House through the holidays.

In the coming days, the tree will get decorated with more than 13,000 LED lights and 900 ornaments. It will remain dark until the 52nd Annual Governor’s Carolighting on November 26.

Carolighting festivities will begin at 7 p.m. on the north lawn of the state house.
