NC police say suspected killer could be in Lowcounty

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTW) – Police in Charlotte, North Carolina are asking people along the Grand Strand and the Lowcountry to keep an eye out for a suspected killer.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit contacted Horry County police to ask for any help possible in locating Joseph Tyrell Abercrombie, who is likely in the company of Bria Anansa Shawntia Robinson.

Abercrombie is wanted for the murder of Antwain Maurice Price. Detectives in Charlotte say Abercrombie “knows that he is wanted and is reportedly moving along interstates staying in motels possibly in Columbia, SC and Spartanburg, SC area.”

Robinson has ties to Spartanburg, SC, detectives say, and police add the duo could be in the Lowcountry, traveling along I-95 or I-26.

Abercrombie should be considered armed and dangerous, warn detectives. His warrants are for murder and possession of firearm by a convicted felon. He has previously been convicted of Involuntary manslaughter in South Carolina.

Anyone with information related to Abercrombie’s location is asked to call the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) Detective at 704-336-VCAT (8228). Tips can also be called into the Charlotte CrimeStoppers at 704-334-1600 or online at charlottecrimestoppers.com.
