RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – The Raleigh parents of a 7-month-old who died in a hot car in June have been charged in connection with the child’s death, warrants show.
On June 8, Raleigh police responded to a home on Gatcombe Place after a child was found unresponsive.
A search warrant says the family returned home around 2 p.m. and “no one took the infant out of the baby seat.”
The child remained locked in the vehicle until the parents went to leave the house again around 7 p.m. and found the infant was not breathing.
Warrants say they brought the child inside the home and attempted to revive the child until EMS arrived.
EMS determined nothing could be done to save the child, warrants show.
Jume Mussa, 50, and Sifa Selemani, 27, both of Gatcombe Place were arrested on June 22 on charges of felony negligent child abuse causing serious bodily injury.
Both are expected to appear in court Aug. 13.
