A high-speed chase in Dothan came to an end Saturday just before 1:00 PM when the vehicle crashed on the side of the roadway.
According to emergency pages from the 911 communication center, the driver was unconscious after the crash. Extensive medical care was provided to the woman who endangered many lives in the Dothan area just minutes prior.
“Dothan Police were in pursuit of a suspect wanted in a homicide in North Carolina,” DPD Lieutenant Rachel David told WDHN. “When we made contact the suspect was driving a stolen vehicle. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver fled.”
David also added that as a safety measure on Ross Clark Circle, DPD and the Houston County Sheriff’s Office blocked intersections ahead of the dangerous chase to ensure safety for the public at large.
Dothan Police did not use a pit maneuver to end the chase. The woman driving the vehicle crashed on her own.
The stolen vehicle in the chase is a current model Toyota Corolla which did not appear to have a license plate on the rear of the vehicle, but instead possibly a dealership tag of some form. WDHN will confirm the vehicle’s origination as soon as that information is made available.
The murder suspect has not been identified at this time.
