Deb Bramlett from McLeod Children’s Hospital joined News13 NOW at 9 a.m. on Monday to talk about the national Children’s Hospitals Week.
She explained that the week is a special chance to honor the children’s hospitals around the country and the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Bramlett said it’s a chance for people to honor a child who has needed care at children’s hospital or to give thanks for a child who would benefit from a local children’s hospital if ever needed.
“You hope you never need it, but you’re always glad that they’re there when you do,” Bramlett said.
According to the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) website, “This week is all about helping kids and ensuring children’s hospitals have the funds they need to care for more than 10 million kids a year. Government and insurance programs don’t begin to cover these costs; that’s why donations are vital to children’s hospitals.”

Also, CMN will host a Childrens Hospitals Week live-athon on Facebook live. The CMN website reads, “Meet inspiring kids whose care isn’t possible without donations. Be entertained. Be surprised. Be inspired.”

Upcoming Ways to Support McLeod Children’s Hospital
The Sporting Clays Classic will benefit McLeod Loris Seacoast Children’s Services. The event is Saturday, March 23 from 1 to 4 in Tabor City, NC. Registration is beforehand, and dinner and awards follow.

The 5th Annual Handlebars Under the Stars will be on Saturday, April 13. Registration begins at 6 p.m., and the motorcycle ride begins at 8 p.m., leaving from Calli Baker’s Firehouse Bar & Grill on Lake Arrowhead Road in Myrtle Beach.
Free food will follow at Indigo Creek Golf Course, with an After Party at Wicked Tuna’s Tuna Shack.
Money raised will benefit the renovations underway at McLeod’s Children’s Hospital.
