LUMBERTON, NC (WBTW) – A man’s admission to police led Robeson County deputies to a woman’s body early Sunday morning.
Katonya Charles, 38, was found dead at an apartment complex on Cunningham Circle off Highway 72 near Lumberton, the sheriff’s office said.
A man identified as Willie Davis had told the Whiteville Police Department he beat his girlfriend and left her on the floor of an apartment in Robeson County, according to the sheriff’s office.
Willie Davis, Jr., 44, was arrested and charged with first degree murder. He’s in the Robeson County Detention Center without bond.
Investigators don’t know how the woman died. They’re waiting on an autopsy.
