ORRUM, NC (WBTW) – A man is wanted on a weapons charge related to the lockdown of a Robeson County middle school.
Gary Lynn Gatlin, 48, of Water Tower Rd. in Orrum, is wanted by the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, according to a press release. Gatlin is reportedly charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The RCSO says this charge is in relation to “the discharging of a weapon that resulted in the lockdown of Orrum Middle School.”
Deputies responded to the 800 block of Water Tower Rd. around 2 p.m. on Friday in reference to shots fired, the release said. Gatlin allegedly left the area before deputies arrived.
Orrum Middle School was placed on lockdown, “which is a normal procedure.”
The lockdown was lifted around 2:50 p.m. No injuries were reported.
The sheriff’s office says Gatlin was never on the school campus or near the campus with a weapon.
Deputies conducted a search of Gatlin’s home and reportedly seized several guns and ammunition.
