A man wanted on murder and other charges turned himself in at the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday. 

Geronimo Jones turned himself in around 2 p.m. on Thursday for “charges stemming from a homicide in August 2018,” according to a press release from the RCSO. Jones is charged with first degree murder, discharging a firearm in occupied property, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and felony conspiracy. 

Deputies responded to a call about two people being shot on August 26 around 6:30 p.m. in the 5700 block of NC 211 East in Lumberton, the release says. Deputies found 20-year-old Nylah Vereen dead of a gunshot wound to the head inside the mobile home she shared with her boyfriend. 

Rokeiem Young, 21, was shot in the hand an leg, according to the release. He was treated and released after the incident. 

Jones’ mother, Judy Kay Lowery, 40, has also been charged “for her involvement in the murder,” states the release. Lowery arrived at the Robeson County Courthouse at 1:45 p.m. on August 29 and turned herself in to detectives. She was charged with first degree murder, discharging a firearm in occupied property, and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and felony conspiracy. 

Jones and Lowery are being held at the Robeson County Detention Center without bond. Jones made his first court appearance on Friday morning in the Robeson County District Court.
