Sumter County sheriffs are looking for a male suspect in connection with multiple stolen cars across South Carolina.

Deputy Ken Bell, the Public Information Officer for the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, says the suspect has recently stolen cars across the Midlands and Lowcountry.

The suspect’s most recent theft was from a dealership in Sumter. Bell says the suspect stole a vehicle from a dealership and drove it to Beaufort, where he left that vehicle and drove away in another new car.

The suspect starts off by talking with salespeople. When he is asked for his driver’s license, the suspect then changes the subject of the conversation in order to get keys to a car. The suspect then drives away with the car.

Bell also says none of the vehicles stolen have been damaged so far.

The suspect can be seen in surveillance photos from a dealership and in a surveillance photo leaving a Walmart in Manning.

The suspect also has tattoos on his right forearm, his legs and his neck, according to Bell.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the thefts should call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIMESC.
