LUMBERTON, NC (WBTW) – Lumberton police responded to Walnut Street Friday afternoon and found a man in a car with a gunshot wound. 

The press release from the police department says officers received multiple calls about shots fired in the area of 21st and Walnut Street around 1 p.m. When police arrived, they found the injured 24-year-old sitting inside a red Honda. 

Captain Terry Parker with the Lumberton Police Department says police took care of him until emergency crews took over care and transported him to Southeastern Regional Medical Center with life threatening injuries. Since then, the victim has been flown to another hospital for treatment. 

Investigators have not identified any suspects, but do say a white car was seen driving away from the scene. The Robeson County District Attorney’s Office investigator and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are also working the case.
