GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A man has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of trafficking and conspiracy to traffic in heroin, police said.

Ury Gary Espinoza Bucio, 41, was booked into the Pitt County Detention Center and given a $9 million bond.

The Greenville Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the area of Highway 264 and Old Stantonsburg Road Tuesday around 11:30 a.m.

Police noticed a car battery sitting in the back seat. The car was also a rental, which police said furthered their suspicions.

Police were given consent to search the car, and using a K9 they found 5 kilograms of heroin concealed in a car battery.

Further investigation led detectives to the suspects’ residence in Raleigh, where an additional 5 kilograms of heroin were located in an additional car battery.

“It’s obviously a commercial operation,” said Greenville police Chief Mark Holtzman. “This is obviously a very elaborate operation. This is nothing anyone is going to do in their garage.”
