Lumberton Water Treatment Plant operating at limited capacity, Alamac Rd. closed to regular traffic

The Lumberton Water Treatment is operating at limited capacity and Alamac Road in the Lumberton area is closed to regular traffic.

The Lumberton Water Treatment Plant is operating at limited capacity as of about 11 a.m. on Tuesday, according to Emily Jones, the public information officer for Robeson County. Lumberton residents are encouraged to continue practicing water conservation methods.

Due to the severity of flooding in Lumberton and Robeson County, limited roadways are available for travel, Jones says. Alamac Road will be closed to regular traffic until further notice and only public safety response vehicles and essential personnel will be allowed access.

Jones also says a voluntary evacuation is in effect for Lowe Road to the North Carolina Indian Cultural Center.

According to a post on the Robeson County Administration/Government’s Facebook page, a boil water advisory is in effect for Robeson County customers and the Robeson County curfew is in effect until further notice.
