LUMBERTON, NC (WBTW) – Two Lumberton men were arrested in connection with a fire investigation Friday morning.

According to Captain Terry Parker with the police department, officers were called to 104 Halsey Street just after midnight Friday morning for a reported fire. Witnesses reported seeing people near the home just before the fire started.

Officers arrested Christopher Ellerby, 25, and Brannan Seth Scott, 19, both of Lumberton, not far from the scene of the fire. Each man is charged with felony breaking and entering and felony burning certain buildings.

Police say the house was vacant at the time and no one was hurt.

Ellerby was also served four warrants for misdemeanor charges and an outstanding felony robbery with a dangerous weapon warrant for a personal armed robbery that occurred on July 10 on Weaver Court in Lumberton.

Ellerby’s bond was set at $42,000. Scott’s bond was set at $100,000. Both are in the Robeson County Detention Center.
