RED OAK, N.C. (WNCN) – A South Carolina murder suspect was among two arrested in Nash County Thursday after a chase, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.

A deputy initiated a traffic stop near mile marker 141 on Interstate 95 south. When the deputy approached the vehicle — a white Nissan Altima with Florida plates — the driver provided two false names. The deputy had the driver step out of the vehicle. While they were talking, the passenger hopped into the driver’s seat and took off, the release said.

Shortly after, Nash County communications received a call from a concerned citizen about a suspicious vehicle in the Timber Creek area of Red Oak, off of North Old Carriage Road. The caller said a person was removing items from a white Altima and hiding them in nearby woods, according to the release.

Responding authorities with a K-9 located 57 grams of heroin, 139 grams of cocaine, 41 grams of oxycodone, 64 grams of MDMA, 8 grams of xanax, 70 grams of marijuana, and three firearm magazines, the release said.

While attempting to identify the suspects, deputies found out that 24-year-old Christopher Fuller, of Lake City, who was the initial driver, is wanted in South Carolina for first-degree murder, attempted murder, assault and battery, robbery, and other charges stemming from a March 24 incident, the release said.

Fuller is being processed at the Nash County Sheriff’s Office, the release said.

He and 33-year-old Larry Harris face a bevy of drug-related charges. Harris, who was the second driver, is also charged with felony flee to elude arrest, the release said.
