In May of 2014, Ethen Richardson died at 8-years-old after battling brain cancer. The Hope Jam began as a way to raise money for Ethen’s family to pay for the many medical costs that accompanied the disease.

Since Ethen passed away, his family continues to hold the Hope Jam each year as an effort to raise money for other families with children battling life threatening illnesses.

This year’s event is on Saturday, April 14th at 7 PM at the Windjammer on the Isle of Palms. The event will have live music, door prizes, raffles, and a “womanless beauty pageant”.

Tickets are $20 in advace, $25 at the door and can be purchased here. WCBD News 2’s Josh Marthers will be the Hope Jam emcee.
