SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) — Funeral arrangements have been announced for a Spartanburg High School football player and the school’s head athletic trainer who tragically died just day apart.
Bryant Rose’s funeral will be held Thursday, Spartanburg School District 7 leaders said.
The funeral is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Spartanburg.
Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel on E. Main Street in Spartanburg.
Rose was head athletic trainer at Spartanburg High School for 25 years.
The Morganton, N.C. native was a graduate of Appalachian State University, according to an obituary.
Rose leaves behind a wife, two sons, brother and father.
Rose died Monday morning after a brief hospitalization following surgery, according to the the coroner.
His death came three days after 18-year-old Nick Dixon died from complications during surgery.
Dixon was a Spartanburg High School senior and football team captain who school officials said excelled on and off the turf. He recently played in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.
A vigil was held to honor Dixon. Fellow Vikings have also held raised money to cover funeral expenses.
Dixon’s funeral is scheduled noon Saturday at Travelers Rest Church at 110 State Road in Spartanburg.
J.W. Woodward Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, according to an obituary.
