Fire at car crushing facility in Holly Hill continues to burn

More than 30 stations are responding to a large fire at Don’s Car Crushing in Holly Hill.  

Agencies from Berkeley County, Dorchester County, Orangeburg County, and Joint Base Charleston were called to the scene at around 4:30 p.m. 

No injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire is still unknown. 

Dorchester County Fire Services Director Teddy Wolf tells us they expect the fire to burn for the next 2-3 days. 

The fire was controlled as of 10 p.m. but they are working to protect a $5 million dollar processing facility. 

The American Red Cross is providing meals and relief services to fire crews as they continue to battle the blaze. 

This is the third major fire at Don’s Car Crushing in Holly Hill. 

They are conducting air quality tests.
