FEMA specialists were in Pembroke, North Carolina on Monday helping people mitigate future flooding.

Mitigation is the effort to reduce the loss of life and property damage by lessening the impact of future disasters.

The specialists answered questions about home repair, disaster plans, supply kits, and the importance of flood insurance.

“Hazard mitigation is just risk reduction. We want you to rebuild better, stronger, reduce your risk for loss of life and loss of property,” said Allen Morgan, a FEMA representative.

The specialists will be at Pembroke Hardware Monday through Saturday until December 14th.
