Deputies responded Sunday morning to a call for service that led to an officer-involved shooting.

Greenville deputies say they were called out to the Pleasant Grove Mobile Home Community on Murrell Road around 1:30 a.m. to a man claiming he was poisoned.

When deputies arrived, the man told them he was armed with a firearm. At some point, they heard a gunshot and later learned a female inside the home with the man had been shot. Her injuries were non-life-threatening.

While trying to establish communication, deputies say the man came outside and discharged his weapon several times before pointing it at deputies.

At least one deputy returned fire, hitting the man who was later pronounced dead on the scene.

The coroner has identified the man as Willie Jermaine Robinson, 34. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

No deputies were harmed in the shooting.

SLED is investigating.
