LUMBERTON, NC (WBTW) – A car chase for several miles ended in the arrest of a 27-year-old man for possession of Xanax, plus other outstanding warrants.

Johnathan M. Hunt, of Fairmont, has been charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver Xanax, maintaining a vehicle for use of a controlled substance, fleeing arrest with a motor vehicle, aggressive driving, failure to stop at a stop sign, driving while license revoked, driving left of center and operating a vehicle with no insurance.

Hunt also had outstanding warrants for discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

Deputies say they were responding to an alarm call on the 4500 block of Hwy 72 W on Tuesday when they saw Hunt speed away in a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe.

Hunt refused to stop for the sirens and blue lights, deputies say. The pursuit continued for several miles before he was apprehended on Hwy 72 West. The search of the vehicle led to the seizure of a quantity of Xanax medication, according to the report.

Hunt was placed into the custody of the Robeson County Detention Center with a $50,000 secured bond.
