DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – A camera that normal captures trucks becoming stuck under a Durham bridge was able to record the sound and power of Wednesday’s gas explosion.
The railroad bridge over South Gregson Street only provides only 11 feet 8 inches of clearance and has claimed several tall trucks over the years.
Jürgen Henn mounted a camera to capture the roofs of trucks being peeled off.
But on Thursday, that camera recorded the deafening blast of the gas explosion on Duke Street.
Henn’s camera shakes violently as the explosion’s sound blasts its microphone.
Henn’s camera is about a block east-southeast from the site of the explosion.
At least one person was killed and 17 injured when a ruptured gas line exploded at 10:07 a.m.
