FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Authorities in Fayetteville say a blood-covered man who police encountered early Sunday fatally stabbed his grandfather.
Officers first responded around 2:35 a.m. to a Marathon gas station in the 700 block of Country Club Drive for reports of a man covered in blood.
Responding officers found the man covered in blood, who was later identified as Damar Dobbins, police said.
After speaking with the blood-covered man, police determined he lived along the 3300 block of Cranbrook Drive.
Police then went to the man’s last known residence on Cranbrook Drive. Once officers arrived on scene they made entry to the house and found a dead man with possible stab wounds.
Sunday night, police said they charged Damar Dobbins, 31, in the stabbing death of his grandfather George Dobbins, 72.
The pair lived together at a home in the 3300 block of Cranbrook Drive.
Dobbins is currently being held in the Cumberland County Jail without bond for the charge of first-degree murder.
