2 charged after elderly woman found severely beaten in Robeson County

Two people have been charged after an elderly woman was found severely beaten.

Robeson County Sheriff Kenneth Sealy says 41-year-old Tammie Gooch Britt and 44-year-old Curtis Vance Britt have been arrested and charged.

Tammie Britt was arrested on June 22 at her residence without incident. She is charged with exploitation of an elder adult by a person of trust, abuse of an elder adult by a person of trust, and conspiracy to exploit an elder adult by a person of trust. She was placed in the Robeson County Detention Center under a $50,000 bond. 

Curtis Britt is charged with exploitation of an elder adult by a person of trust and conspiracy to exploit an elder adult by a person of trust. He was arrested at the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office and placed in the Robeson County Detention Center under a $40,000 bond. 

The RCSO received a call on May 12 around 1 p.m. for an elderly female who was found on the floor of her residence severely beaten, according to Sealy. The victim is identified as 74-year-old Jackie Capps Tyndall. 

Sealy also says Tyndall was taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, where she was found to have a “knot” on the back of her head, a black eye to her left eye, and “numerous left side rib fractures.” No updates on her condition are available.
