13 area schools made it into the top 100 South Carolina High Schools in USA Today’s top High School ranking. 

Horry County had the most schools breaking the top 100. Loris High ranked 77, Aynor High at 59, North Myrtle Beach High at 57, Socastee High cracked the top 50 at 42, HCS Early College High took 40, Carolina Forest High ranked 35, Green Sea Floyds took number 30 and St. James High was the highest ranked in Horry County at 29. 

Johnsonville High in Florence County took 77th. 

In Marion County; Mullins High and Marion High took the 93 and 94 spots respectively. 

In our area, the top-ranked school was Mayo High for Math, Science, and Technology in Darlington which took the number 6 spot. Two other Darlington County schools made the list; Hartsville High and Lamar High at 91 and 99 respectively. 

Academic Magnet High School in North Charleston was ranked number 1 in both the state and the nation!
