(WCMH) — The USDA has expanded a recall on ground beef due to concerns of salmonella contamination.
More than 12 million pounds of non-intact raw beef products from JBS Tolleson Inc. has been recalled because it may be contaminated with salmonella, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Tuesday.
This expands on an earlier recall issued in October.
Tuesday’s recall includes an additional 5.2 million pounds of raw beef products.
The raw, non-intact beef items, including ground beef, were packaged on various dates from July 26 to Sept. 7.
The USDA says nearly 250 people have been affected by the tainted beef.
