One person is dead after a shooting in Marion.
A shooting happened around 2:30 p.m. on Bluff Street, according to Marion Police Chief Tony Flowers. The shooting is believed to be a homicide and no one is in custody.
The nearby Johnakin Middle School was placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon “due to police activity in the area,” a post on Marion County School District’s Facebook page says.
According to Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson, the victim is a man, possibly 20 or 21 years of age. The victim’s body is being sent to Charleston for an autopsy.
