One person died and three others were taken to a hospital after a shooting in Scotland County.
On Sunday, Scotland County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to 17720 Lees Mill Road in Laurinburg for a shooting, according to a post on Scotland County Detective Division’s Facebook page. Brandon Brooks, 31, died at the scene “after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.”
Three other people were also taken to nearby hospitals for treatment “after also reporting multiple gunshot wounds,” says the post. These three people are expected to survive.
The post also says the deputies “believe that Brooks was murdered after an attempted robbery went awry at this residence.” Brook’s infant, who is less than six months old, was also present in the home at the time of the incident and was not injured.
The SCSO’s Criminal Investigative Division is investigating.
