RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) – Governor Pat McCrory this afternoon declared a State of Emergency for 66 counties in the state.
At an afternoon news conference, the governor said he was doing this at the request of state Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler.
He said that will assist farmers in clearing their fields, expediting the harvest of crops which have already been damaged by heavy rains.
The order will waive weight, size, and hours of driving restrictions for agriculture vehicles. It will also allow utility companies to position their trucks ahead of the storm.
The counties affected by the declaration are: Alamance, Anson, Beaufort, Bertie, Bladen, Brunswick, Camden, Carteret, Caswell, Chatham, Chowan, Columbus, Craven, Cumberland, Currituck, Dare, Davidson, Davie, Duplin, Durham, Edgecombe, Forsyth, Franklin, Gates, Granville, Greene, Guilford, Halifax, Harnett, Hertford, Hoke, Hyde, Johnston, Jones, Lee, Lenoir, Martin, Montgomery, Moore, Nash, New Hanover, Northampton, Onslow, Orange, Pamlico, Pasquotank, Pender, Perquimans, Person, Pitt, Randolph, Richmond, Robeson, Rockingham, Sampson, Scotland, Stokes, Surry, Tyrrell, Vance, Wake, Warren, Washington, Wayne, Wilson, and Yadkin counties.
